Laundry Detergents: Making the Right Choice

Many people simply pack their dirty clothes, send them to a laundry shop and then pick them up later. Some invest in their own laundry equipment. Laundry machines are not too expensive these days, and any family can have one at home. This saves trips to laundry companies or Laundromats. After purchasing a washer, the next thing to do is find the right laundry detergent. It's not really hard to look for detergents because they come in many brands. However, no brand of detergent is significantly better than the other.
Liquid versus Powder Detergent
Basically, they are similar in composition. Powder detergent has been around much longer though. Since the invention and popularity of washing machines, powder detergents have become useful. You cannot dip detergent bars in washers. As for liquid detergents, their main advantage is their miscibility. A liquid detergent mixes with water right away which is better for washing clothes in cold water, where powder detergent may dissolve slowly.
Biological Detergents
These types of detergents are more popular in the market today than non-biological ones. Biological detergents have active enzymes that help in removing stains. Hence, they are appropriate in washing white clothes. Stained white clothes can be allowed to soak in water with biological detergent and then washed. However, there are certain types of fabrics that cannot be washed in this type of detergent. Silk and wool, for instance, can be damaged by harsh chemicals in biological detergents.
